Cleaning compensation for the loss of a chance

The great majority of claims which are made are for damages to compensate for a loss which has occurred. They will be based on the principle of restoring the person who has suffered a loss through the wrong of another to the position they would have been in if the wrong not happened. There is a basic principle of UK law that a person may not benefit as a result of a wrong suffered and a claimant is only entitled to compensation for the loss that can be proved.

Consumers are defined as people who are buying for purposes not related to their trade, business or profession.
