Is discusing wages with a work colleague a sackable offence inside or outside the workplace?

No, this is not a sackable offence, and if you have been dismissed simply for discussing your wages, it is highly likely that the dismissal was unfair giving you the right to compensation if you satisfy the requirement as to length of employment.
