The Small Claims track of the County Court is designed for people to act in person without legal representation. Any legal costs incurred will therefore not generally be recoverable.

Claims of up to £5000 (£1000 for Personal Injury Claims) will usually be assigned to the Small Claims track. where the rules of evidence will be relaxed and a less formal approach adopted by the Court.
