My husband and myself are about to buy a business of a public house. The present owner employs 6 part-time and 1 full-time staff which we do not wish to employ. The reason for this is that the business does not justify all of this staff and we intended to run and work it ourselves along with our daughter. None of the staff have worked there for i year yet and the age range is 18 -55. Can you please tell me if we can make the staff redundant and if so how much notice and payment we have to give them.

You should not allow this to be your problem. Arrange to purchase the business without the staff or you could be taking over all sorts of problems.
