It probably makes little difference as to whether the spark plug problem is a common fault or not. If it is and the dealer should have known about it they should have taken appropriate precautions before carrying out the work and advised you that if they proceeded it would be at your risk. If as is more likely there is no such common fault then in breaking the smart plug it is negligence pure and simple which must be put right at their expense. Your only obligation is to pay the reasonable cost of the service.
